After drinking the bleach, he immediately became very ill and was carried from the Miami courtroom on a stretcher. He was then taken to hospital for treatment.

Bell is in stable condition at the hospital after ingesting the bleach, but it’s unclear how he managed to get it into the courtroom. His family is also questioning why no one intervened when he drank the product.

“I see him drinking something that’s not right,” Reverend Jerome Starling, a distant relative of Bell’s, told Local 10. I said how could that be.”

Sterling said there needs to be accountability for what happened in the courtroom.

Bell’s cousin, who recorded the incident, said she immediately tried to save him.

Miami-Dade County Corrections and Miami-Dade Police are investigating the incident.
