The era of bipartisan support for Israel is over.

Anti-Israel activists have worked for decades to undermine support for the Jewish state.

Now, as indicated by the latest Gallup tracking poll of attitudes toward the Middle East conflict, Democrats now sympathize more with the Palestinians than with Israel.

Currently, 49% of Democrats support the Palestinians, while only 38% support Israel.

This is the culmination of decades of a trend, as over the past 60 years the two parties have largely swapped identities when it comes to Israel.

In the immediate post-war era, Democrats were highly sympathetic to Israel.

It reflected the way most Americans viewed the tiny nation as a courageous democracy battling for its life against the Arab and Muslim world, which was seeking its destruction. Republican many were either indifferent or openly hostile.

This changed as Republicans elected pro-Israel Ronald Reagan, and by the 1990s, the GOP had become overwhelmingly pro-Israel.

They understood that it was the only democracy in the Middle East and shared similar values ​​with the Americans.

If anything, that support has only increased with Gallup showing Republicans now trail it by a 78-11% margin.

Yet in 2001, Gallup reported that Democrats still support Israel by a 51–16% margin.

While this is still true for some Congressional Democrats, they are now out of touch with their party’s left wing base.

What does this change indicate?

Gallup claims this may be a reflection of the “high number of Palestinians killed” in the conflict—without mentioning that those figures are largely made up of terrorists killed.

But they are not wrong in seeing this as connected to the “wandering religiosity” of most Americans since the remainder of the faith – who are more likely to be Republicans – are strong supporters of Zionism.

They are missing the real answer: the rise of the intersectional left that falsely compares the Palestinian war on Israel to the struggle for civil rights in the United States and the Jewish state as a manifestation of “white privilege” and the oppressor of the Palestinian it shows. “People of Color.”

Unless they are prepared to recognize the legitimacy of a Jewish state on the planet, regardless of where its borders are drawn, the conflict will continue.

Following the hostilities of the Obama administration, which struck a nuclear deal with Iran that threatened Israel’s existence, the so-called progressive Marxists dominated Congressional Democrats with the “Squad” and hailed them as the rock stars of the party. brought into. So, the polling numbers come as no surprise.

Unlike Rep. Ilhan Omar, a member of the anti-Semitic squad, support for Israel is “not what Benjamin is all about.”

The Jews did not buy the Congress. Israel was popular with Americans of all backgrounds until our education system was hijacked by Marxist fanatics.

And like most GOP voters, who don’t buy the Left’s lies about history and race, that remains the case.

But from now on, it is no longer possible to pretend that both sides are equally committed to Israel’s defense.

Thanks to the influence of an ideology to which even President Joe Biden succumbs, Democrats have reached a point of no return on Israel.
