Rihanna’s live guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has quashed a long-standing rumor that the singer wanted to make a heavy metal album.

However, in a new interview with Classic Rock, Bettencourt denied that he made any comments in the 2009 article.

“It’s a complete lie,” he said, “it’s fabricated. It’s so wrong. I promise you on the lives of my children that those words never came out of my mouth. It’s a good story, which is why I think it’s written, but it’s not quite true. [via LouderSound]

“What happened was they got in touch with me because they said they wanted a guitar player, and wanted to rock the show, and they saw some of my stuff online.
